There are things that you can do right now to prevent your Xbox 360 from overheating and allow you to play your games for longer periods.

Here are 5 simple steps you can take to keep your Xbox 360 cool.

1) Make sure your Xbox 360 has plenty of breathing room!

If your console is currently placed on a book shelf or a small cabinet or any other confined space, then move it to a location where it will have plenty of room all around so that the air flow to the fans is unrestricted.

2) Keep it away from heat!

To prevent overheating, it is important that your console is on a cool hard surface and that it is far away from any heating devices such as DVD, Blu-ray players, Satelite players, even other gaming consoles such as the PS3 and the Wii! Also, make sure that your console is not exposed to direct sunlight or near any radiators!

3) Keep it free from any dust build-up!

Dust can prove to be an insulator if there is enough of it so it is a good idea to regularly clean the dust out of the side vents using a hoover.

Removing any dust from the motherboard and other components is also a good idea. You can do this by hoovering the dust with touching anything, brushing the dust away using a small clean paint brush and using a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the motherboard.

4) Take a break!

Your Xbox 360 will overheat if you use it constantly, so try and limit your game time to around 2 hours with long breaks in between. This may be difficult if you play 24/7 but it will help to prevent overheating.

Also, if you are not playing games then switch your console off because even when it is idle, there is still heat being generated. Switching your console off will also give it a chance to cool down.

5) Buy a cooling station!

You can now buy cooling stations that are specifically designed to keep your Xbox 360 running cool while you play your games. These units usually have 2 high powered fans that sit underneath the console blowing cool air in. They can cost anywhere between $20 and $60.

Unfortunately, there comes a time where you will have to get your Xbox 360 repaired but it doesn’t have to be a nightmare as you can now repair it yourself quite easily using a professional Xbox 360 repair guide.

These guides enable you to permanently fix your Xbox 360 within a couple of hours and have become very popular among serious Xbox 360 gamers.
