The highly anticipated gaming console is due to launch in November. Kinect for Xbox 360, or simply Kinect is a « controller-free gaming and entertainment experience. » Developed by Microsoft for the Xbox 360, Kinect is based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console. It enables users to control and interact with Xbox 360 without the need to touch a controller. Controls to the Xbox 360 will be through natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. Microsoft’s project is aimed at widening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond it’s typical gamer base. Kinect for XBOX 360 will compete with the Wii Remote and PlayStation Move motion control systems for the Wii and PlayStation 3 home consoles, respectively.

Game developers will simultaneously be releasing Kinect ready games with the launch of Xbox 360 this holiday season. Such games include Kinect: Kinectimals, Kinect Joy, Kinect Sports, Ride, Your Shape; Fitness Evolved, Dance Central and Kinect Adventures. These games are sure to turn your living area into an interactive gaming stage. For example, in Kinect Sports, you may hold out your hands as if you were gripping a steering wheel. The Xbox 360 Kinect can recognize your hands and the movement of them. The system will be able to detect the direction your hands are moving and transform that into gameplay.

Not every feature of Kinect will target directly at gaming. Kinect will allow you to control the Xbox 360 system with your voice and hands. Xbox 360 Kinect will be a complete entertainment console from allowing users to listen to music to watching movies. You can be cleaning your house and Kinect will allow you to change the music on your Xbox 360 that’s playing with just a swipe of your hand.

The Xbox 360 Kinect will surely be the next generation of gaming!
