If you’re wondering how to record video game play on your PSP then this probably will help you out. The program is Custom Firmware Extender. The new version that comes out now is 2.2 which was recently released by Cpasjuste. The new version fixes bug from the previous version. It fixes bug that prevented playback function from working and other previous issues.

Also the new version has more functionality comparing to the previous one. This allows users to take screen shots from XMB or while playing a UMD game, you can also record your game play videos and access mass storage. Those are just some of the features for the new extender.

The new version works perfectly with 3.90 m33 custom firmware only. Please take note of that.

How to install:

  1. Download the CFE 2.2
  2. Copy the content to the root of your memory stick.
  3. You may adjust the cfe.config. Go to « mso:/seplugins/cfe ».
  4. Enable cfe_vsh.prx and cfe_game.prx under the m33 recovery menu in vsh, game and pops.
  5. Set CPU speed to default under the m33 recovery menu.
  6. Push « Note %2B Volume Down » on the PSP to see available commands. (default config)

To Record Game play Video:

  • On your computer, go to the folder « windowsremotejoy_gui » for linux go to « linuxremotejoy_gui or then launch « start_remotejoy.bat ».
  • On your PSP push the capture button combo (default is Note%2BR).
  • Get back to your computer then in the remote_gui windows press « c » on your keyboard to start capturing the video. Each frames will be saved as bmp in the capture folder. Make sure that you have plenty of space in your hard disk drive because capturing will take a lot of your space.
  • Next is to encode *.bmps using your VirtualDub. Google it!
  • That’s it.. Enjoy capturing.
