So you turn on your Xbox 360 and start playing your favorite games. Your enjoying everything, but suddenly, about 15 minutes into playing, your Xbox 360 abruptly turns off! But wait, there are two flashing red lights on the Xbox 360. What does this mean, and what is wrong with my Xbox?!

Many people have been wondering the same thing. They simply don’t understand why there Xbox « decides » to turn off in the middle of gameplay. If you are confused, you don’t need to be. The problem is simple, your Xbox 360 is overheating, and is programmed to automatically shut down to prevent further damage.

Now you may be wondering, does my Xbox really over heat after 15 minutes? Well, probably not. If you think back on your Xbox, you probably remember one time where you accidentally left your Xbox on for a lot longer then you meant to. Maybe you left it on overnight, or while you watched a movie.

Letting the Xbox really overheat one time, can result in going as far as melting the internal system a bit, causing your Xbox to randomly trigger the overheat signal.

If you did not ever leave it on for a long period of time, then your console probably has a horrible fan system. Some Xbox 360’s did not even come with a fan system.

So now for the real question, how do I fix the problem? Well, an overheating problem is usually expensive to fix. For example, the Xbox Support page from Microsoft will charge you $100 for a repair that involves 2 red lights. If you think buying a new fan for your system will fix the problem, you can do that too.
