The upcoming motion controller of Sony is named as PlayStation Move. It looks like aircraft traffic wands that come with pink and blue glowing bulbs on its ends. PS3 Move Controller brings motion control to the core domain. The biggest strength of the Move is the range of games it supports.

PS3 Move Controller Configurations:

PS3 Move controller is scheduled for this fall and it comes in three configurations like

  • A version with Move wands alone, for those own the PlayStation Eye camera
  • The next option comes with the Move wands, Eye and the game
  • The final one comes with a full bundle, which includes Move wands, game, PlayStation 3 console, and the Eye.

The cost of Eye, game and the Move wand option is under $100. All these configurations are impressive.

PS3 Move Controller games:

The company also demonstrated the Move controller with various motion control games. They started with a sword and shield, when slashed from left or right hand to shield the blocks is processed by the Move and the Eye in every angle and gesture. Peter Dille, senior vice president of Sony’s PlayStation said that the path of migration between PlayStation households and the Wii households is a natural path.

PS3 Move Controller Demo:

When used in Table tennis, it showed the effects of very subtle wrist rolling shifts, pitching, softer and harder hits and various spins at far and near court slams. Other games in which the Move will work includes bows and arrows, punching, guns and many more.

Covering the family, PS3 Move Controller places a video stream that is snapped with the Eye. Initially, the Move wand of the demonstrator changed into a tennis racket to swat the objects. Next, it became a painting brush and the demonstrator colored with it. Later, it changed into a hand-fan of the portable type. The demonstrator used it to redirect the airflow and to guide the falling chicks to their nests located beside the display.

Sony has also introduced a complementary product called « sub-controller » as a surprise. It is an analog thumbstick containing buttons. You have to hold the Move in one hand and the sub-controller in the other. Sony noted that you can play SOCOM 4 with the sub-controller and the Move. The company also thinks that it will enhance the gaming experience in the existing titles and it expects the players to use it with the new games.

It seems like the core gamers have to wait for some time to get satisfied. Sony has used it with StarCraft to test its effectiveness. It works fine with the PC version of StarCraft. It is billed as accurate, precise, and fast with 3D tracking. Both old and new PS3 games are leveraged with the next upcoming motion controls releases. One such game is EyePet, where the players will play with a 3D pet. Many Move-ready titles are expected in the near future. The Move controls will also be sold separately. The players can also use it for additional interaction with their pet.
